» Bay State Herget Champions ! ! ! ! ! ! !         ****************CONGRATULATIONS **********************
Does it get any better than this:  Playing your arch-rivals, on senior night, tied at the top, winner take all?
In what has become a familiar  story line the Rebels came out strong, scoring 2 goals in the 1st 4 minutes which proved to be all they needed as Walpole took the Herget with a convincing 5 - 1 victory.   The season wraps up a week from today vs Canton.  The Rebels are seeded #2 in the tournament.

Herald "In the slot" yesterday posted  Girls and Boys leaders HERE.
» No let up Coach Verderber has this team firing on all cylinders right now.  Following a big 3-0 pasting of Dedham on Saturday, it was rinse and repeat vs Ursuline on Monday.  Torgerson (2Gs) started things off about 20 seconds in streaking down the right side, roofing one on the short side.  Matherson (2Gs)  followed up 20 seconds later with a shot from the point.  The Rebels were up 2-0 with less than a minute played.  The eventual score was 6 - 0 with the scoring coming from everywhere.  Barry (1G1A), Knight (1G), CDonahue and Tosone (3A), Harrop and JDonahue (1A).  Welch picked up the shutout, Walpole's 6th in 7 games.  Since a game 1 loss to Duxbury, Walpole has gone undefeated, wracking up 14 W's and 3 T's.
» Rebel Mustang Showdown for the Herget The script has played out.  Walpole came out guns blazing Saturday afternoon and defeated Dedham 3 - 0.  Later in the evening  Norwood defeated Natick 5 - 0 leaving the Rebels and Mustangs tied at the top with 27 points. Only one Bay State game remains for each team.  Your Rebels host Norwood this Wed, Feb 15.  Winner take all!
» Rebels blank Dedham  Only the stellar goaltending of Dedham's Mosca kept this game close.   After a scoreless 1st, both Knight and Cpt. McGraw scored to send the game into the 3rd with Walpole 2 - 0.  Unlike previous games against Weymouth and Braintree, this time the Rebels held their composure with Welch making  key saves to keep the score at 2 - 0.  The Walpole fans got anxious when with 2 minutes remaining Dedham pulled Mosca for the 6th skater  and then watched Matherson get a high sticking call with 1:15 to go.  Fortunately, Cori Donahue iced the puck, Tosone outfought Dedham for the puck and put in the empty netter to seal the win.
» Rebels keep pace Walpole kept pace with Norwood (25 pts each)  in the Herget race by shutting out Milton 6 - 0  at the Iorio.  In the 1st period and throughout the game the Rebels seeamed to be just going through the motions but at the end of 1 it was 3 - 0.  If the script plays out, the Rebels will face off against Norwood next Wednesday with the winner claiming top spot in the Herget.  To get there, Walpole can not afford to look past Dedham on Saturday.
